What Is In Your Dog Food? The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and The discussion for Organic or All Natural

If eating organic is important to you, isn't it important for Fido too?

You eat organic. Eating organic is important to you for your health. You love your pup and want him to be healthy, too. So doesn't it make sense to feed him high-quality organic food? Let's take a look at what is as a matter of fact in the national brand dog food and why it is Not good for your pup. This is just a sampling of the a few ingredients and what is wrong with them.

Baby Food Fruit Organic

Chicken by-product consists of rendered chicken parts left after slaughter; these parts are basically mystery chicken parts and it is difficult to ensure consistent quality. By-product can include things other than just mean (heads, feet, bones, organs, etc. - icky!) and is often less nutritional than chicken meat.

Soy can be an allergen for some dogs, and if it is not organic then it is most as a matter of fact grown from genetically modified seed (Gmo).

Sugar is thoroughly unnecessary in dog food. The sugar in their food can encourage hypoglycemia, obesity, nervousness, cataracts, tooth decay, arthritis and allergies in your pup.

Propylene glycol is used as in semi-moist kibble to keep it from drying out. It can be toxic if consumed in large amounts. I would consider a large number to be the number consumed by your pup if he eats it as an ingredient in his food daily.

Phosphoric acid is safe (?) but unnecessary ingredient, used in inexpensive, poor ability dog food as flavoring and discoloration inhibitor. Lowest line: it is an unnecessary chemical being ingested by your pup.

Perhaps one of the most disturbing ingredients is "animal digest", which is a cooked-down broth made from unspecified parts of unspecified animals, without any operate over quality. Even "4-D animals" (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter) can be used, as well as goats, pigs, horses, rats, road-kill, animals euthanized at shelters, restaurant and supermarket refuse and so on. You get the picture = disgusting.

This synthetic version of vitamin K has not been specifically beloved for long term use, such as in pet food. It has been related to many serious condition issues along with cytotoxicity in liver cells, formation of radicals from enzymes of leucocytes, considerably weakens the immune system, damages the natural vitamin K cycle, causes hemolytic anemia and hyperbilirubinemia (not just related to large doses), is directly toxic in high doses (natural vitamin K is not), builds up in tissue and has been detected in eggs, meat and milk of animals supplemented with menadione derivatives, can cause irritation of skin and mucous membranes, and can cause allergic reactions and eczema. Phew! That is quite a list, and a frightening one at that!

Is cost your qualm?

You want to feed your dog high-quality, healthy, maybe even organic food, but you cannot intellectually and or financially get past the price - that good stuff is pricey!

Well... consider this: The cheap, national brand dog food has so many unnecessary ingredients, along with fillers, that you as a matter of fact have to feed your pup more of it to get them close to the cusine they need. With the high-quality food, every light meal is more nutritious by leaps and bounds and you as a matter of fact feed your pup less! The "pricey" high-quality dog food as a matter of fact may cost Less per serving than the cheap, national brand!

Now let's talk about the good stuff...

I wanted share some of my recommendations for the good stuff; above I mentioned organic specifically as the best alternative, but organic is not the most important thing about the dog food you choose. The main thing I am stressing is finding at the ingredients and doing a minute homework about what you see on that list. Be a discerning buyer and make a healthy choice for your pup. I buy my chocolate lab, Mocha Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream formula.

Taste of the Wild does not include any of the ingredients that specifically alarm me that you may find in some dog foods. And, as you can see the first ingredients listed, and therefor the majority of pre-cooked weight, is salmon, fish, sweet potatoes, salmon meal, potato fiber, and canola oil. That doesn't sound ad, right? In fact, it sounds like stuff I would as a matter of fact eat. This food contains healthy fats (essential fatty acids), high-quality protein sources, fruits and vegetables, and live cultures.

Taste of the Wild also comes in a bison/venison formula, a lamb formula, and a duck/quail formula.

Chicken formulas are among the most widely available, and there are abundance of good ones out there.

Newman's Own Organic premium Adult Dog food is good.

Natural balance Organic method contains a chicken, lamb, salmon and veggie combination.

Those are just a incorporate of suggestions of foods that you can feel great about feeding your pup. Of course, there are many more that are good, too; have a look at the site below. The good foods I mentioned above are probably ready at your local pet shop or pet superstore.
